About the bait balls, Is there poison in them? What kind of poison? Like pellets or something? Can you make a homemade poison? And what's the purpose of putting it in foil, you could just sprinkle poisonous bait, unless you say to weather proof? or perhaps to keep it from getting messy? They say anti-freeze is sweet, but poisonous, I wonder if they would be immune to that, too, like the mice that are immune to coumadin. Any ideas?

My Comment:  I think my page, with pictures, makes it pretty plain.  And you shouldn't use anti-freeze, some other animal may get to it.

Thi is not a suggestion. It is a big, big thank you. Until I read this article I was terrified, bu it is my house......I'm claiming it and the little critter has to get out!!! P.S. If I see one, can I anticipate that there are more? Pleas respond to (email address omitted)

My Comment:  Hard to say...  There is no way to really tell.  Just keep on trapping in the same areas you noticed the problem.  Glueboards work pretty good, move them around each night.

mice are wonderful creatures and shouldn't be treated in so callous a manner. Use non-kill traps, bait them, and let the mice go. period. end of story- 13 year old mouse lover - archery girl

My Comment:  Well, sweetheart, ALL God's creatures are wonderful things....  Cockroaches, rats and all things slimy and nasty too.  But we have to draw a line somewhere.  And the line should be at the place where these animals hurt us directly or vector diseases among humans.  The only problem with your method of "using non-kill traps, baiting them, and letting the mice go" is that it just doesn't work out this way.  Mice are fiercely territorial, so when you release that mouse in some other place, the current inhabitants will either kill him or drive him out.  Which means that your "humane" release turns into a torturous death either by starvation or abuse.  I'm afraid you have the "Mickey Mouse Syndrome" - where you attribute human traits and values to simple animals.

Instead of killing, are you advocating something where I could (maybe) catch "Barky Bacteria" from MY house and rather than kill it, I could take Barky over to YOUR house and let him go, perhaps to infect you or yours with millions of "Barky Bacterias?"

I shouldn't do that.  And I'll not be so cruel to other people and also the mice, by letting them go" where they will be a danger to anyone else, for any reason.  That is the Exterminator's Creed.  Period. End of story. ~Exterminator old enough to be your grandfather.

My suggestion is include tips for RVs and 5th Wheels. I live in a 5th wheel for several months while working in a National Park. When it gets cold (sep/Oct) I start getting a fewmice in the camper. Is there anything I can place around the camper to keep them at bay. I heard everything from wild mint to moth balls. Thanks Mike T.

My Comment:  I have an RV myself!  I would suggest the use of TRAPS - probably live traps are the best, such as a small Hava-Hart trap.  You can place these units close to the wheels (on the inside, under the RV body) so they won't be as noticeable to other campers.  The use of any baits would not be proper, as you may affect non-target animals.  Inside your RV, snap traps or glueboards would be appropriate.  As for the moth balls and mint oil remedies, save the time and money!  Thanks for the suggestion!  I will insert it at the next update.

can the mouse detect if a human has touched the trap? should gloves be worn when putting out the traps?

My Comment:  It is possible for mice to "smell" humans, however, they are not put off by this.  Very often they are attracted to humans.  For sanitary purposes you may want to wear a glove, mice will urinate wherever they go, but if it's a new trap you needn't worry about it.

Mice are not dumb, you are dumb with your choppy sentences. I don't understand how you can say "mice are dumb" when they've adapted so well. Glue traps are inhumane, and i don't understand can endorse them. Maybe one day you'll get stuck in quicksand and see how it feels.

My Comment:  You're right.  They aren't dumb, they're EXTREMELY stupid. Worms have adapted well, are they smart?  And as far as using glueboards is concerned, we're talking RODENTS here, rodents that vector diseases to you and me.

ok its not a suggestion really but i myself cant stand to kill things from a bug to a mouse so i like this bucket idea but instead of killing them couldnt u just throw them into a field?

My Comment:  Well, I guess you could, but that would sentence him to a slow death.  Mice are territorial and he won't be welcome in any other territory.

Don't kill the mice! Keep them as pets! I have two and they are the most harmless things! You evil creature!

My Comment:  Oh, cut me a break....
