Squirrels are scratching and chewing on the gutters of my roof. They are destroying the welded seams connecting the pieces of galvanized metal exposing the underlying copper and damaging the seams. I tried spraying repellent on my fire escape and on the roof gutter but that hasn't stopped them. Is there a physical barrier that i could lay in the gutter and on the fire escape (something that the squirrels would not want to step on)?

Thank you.
