Hello, I have had a squirrel infestation in my attic for about two years now. Trapping company did nothing, caught three in a 6 month period at 150 a pop!

Due to this, just a week ago bought my own Advantek traps (2) and 6 squirrels so far, gone, trapped and sent far away! There are a couple more that I still need to get, but the peace and quiet in my bedroom for the first time in months is a welcome relief.

Now I have an issue. I forgot the traps out last night, and a fat raccoon decided a peanut with peanut butter was worth trying to get. What a fat glutton. THe thing just looked at me when I went to see what was in the trap. I opened the door and he just waddled away. I did not relocate him since raccoons are not my issue in my attic.

My question is, will the squirrels now use the trap the raccoon got into? Will the scent scare them away? I am worried because this large trap was the most successful so far with most of the squirrels. The smaller one has only caught 1 so far, so I really need the larger trap in operation.

If the scent will scare them away, how do I get rid of the scent so I can use it again? My scent on the traps don't seem to bother them (I live in a dense sub division), but will the raccoon smell? I only have a few more tree rats to get rid of before I commence roof repairs. I want them all gone before I do so to ensure I don't have to repair again and again.

Thanks for your help - FABULOUS diy critter control site!
