Posted by Weston on 7:34:52 2/8/2012 from 161.156.101.6:I have a squirrel living in my attic. He/she has chewed a hole in the corner of my roof under the shingles. It is a very peculiar spot to reach from the outside.
When I go up in the attic I can get to the corner but the squirrel is way down in the corner. I can't reach the area where he/she is. When I go up there he immediately bolts out the hole runs off the roof and is gone. Usually I don't go up there until after work. The squirrel doesn't return until the next morning. The reason I know is not only the sound but I will shove some flashing over where the hole is on the outside and it is removed. So he stays out all night after I scare him off but returns first thing in the morning.
My questions...
1. Do you think I can shove a shop vac down in the area I can't reach and see? See what I pick up?
2. Do you think there would be babies if the squirrel is staying out all night? (after squirrel leaves I hear nothing until the return)
3. I've got a trap in the attic but no success as of yet. I know someone has probably asked this but can you use rat traps? The ones that kill.
Sorry so long winded. First time with this problem.
