Long night...fertile squirrel. We followed up immediately with each time we placed the trap. We ended up with FIVE. Since then it has been quiet. Most went smoothly, but there were two that didn't. I want to be honest if anyone tries this. There is just no way to guarantee that it will snap right where you need it to for a humane and fast solution. We ended up needing to finish the job once and the fifth actually ended up barely hurt and escaped into our room. We found it and ended up releasing it across the street in a wooded area and let nature take its course which I'm sure was not leaning in this little one's favor, but we couldn't do it. It was a sad night and we hope we never have to do this again. We are in the process of locating and sealing up the holes. Is it likely these were the same nest or two moms with two litters?
