I take it the paint is what will keep them away (the smell)? I currently have vinyl siding - they never cease to amaze me (in not so good ways). They are mostly in the soffit at this point, as I have not heard them anywhere else other than the far edge of my bedroom ceiling (soffit). I have aspergers and quite sensitive to noise. I did see a tail once that was actually in the attic next to the soffit.
