Never had that much luck live trapping flyers. I think glueboards and snap traps work better.
And don't forget, flyers are SOCIAL! So usually there are a BUNCH! I've seen as many as 20 or so in one attic.
Use apples or bread soaked in maple syrup for bait.
Not sure about the ridge vents - usually they are not a problem with metal, undamaged and properly installed vents.
I try to not use poison, even though their body mass is low, and with ridge vents it will be less likely to smell "dead."
Keep close watch, try and figure out all the entry points and keep closing them off.
