Apparently, they can climb pretty well. When I saw him yesterday morning, the trap was knocked off the 3 foot deck rail. He was going at the bait, not afraid of me in the least. Doesn't look like he'd be able to climb that well.

Last summer, we had something coming in through the cat door in the garage, climbing a shelf to get to the catfood container. This animal would make a muddy mess, overturning the feeding bowls. Turned out to be a groundhog. He climbed pretty well, too.
