Okay, I think you hit the nail on the head - after reading up a bit about bats it certainly seems that is it! Thanks so much. I just assumed it was some type of rodent leaving the droppings, from the shape, etc. But they match bat droppings almost exactly.

I don't know if you have direct experience with bats, but from the amount of droppings accumulating (maybe 5-10 per day)would you think it is just a single bat, or might there be a family up there?? I understand they tend to defecate before entering the nest/hole each time.
