My guess would be a raccoon. Hold off trapping for a week or two then change locations if you can.

Or, you can also scrub the trap down, get all bait smell off, then leave it out unbaited for those few weeks.

Amazingly enough, the squirrels are curious and will keep checking, the raccoons will lose interest after a couple of weeks of no rewards.
