Set the trap up around 4pm, a bit late in the day. Set the trap in the 2 door configuration. The squirrel went in and started eating the peanutbutter off the pressure tray. He did trip the trap, but was close enough to the end to make it out with that big tail.
I read your website/squirrel information again.
This morning I put the trap out, instead following your instructions exactly... the method with the peanutbutter on the bread. This time I set it up in the 1 door configuration with the main bait in the far end and blocked so the squirrel couldn't get it out from the back or the sides. Then I put some chum (just like your instructions said) outside the trap....
The squirrel went and got the chum outside, then went into the trap to the far end... tripped the trap and I caught the bugger.
Needless to say the squirrel met his maker via a watery-fate a little bit later.
Trap is already cleaned out and reset... maybe I can get two tree-rats today...
Thanks so much for the webpage, forum, and great advice.
Definitely recommending folks your way and to your site.
Wayne...
