I am overwhelmed by chipmunks and squirrels this year and have cut back the branches of the red maple tree as much as possible but am still afraid they may be able to get to the roof. One chipmunk was in my extended downspout also so I keep banging on the downspout (until it falls off).
I know they say to make sheet metal cones for the tree but am unable to do that so is there anything slippery I can put on the tree trunk to discourage climbing?? Maybe vaseline??
I saw someting once that was sold online but that was a couple of years ago and I can't seem to find anything now that I need it. I fully expect to find a groundhog sitting up there also one of these days as I am overloaded with them too.....and they have no fear. They come right up to the door and do not run when I yell and shoot my $1.99 cap pistol I bought at the local convenience store lol.
Thanks for any info.
