That, and the fact that some houses, after long term occupancy, will exude a "squirrel small" that can also be the basis of attraction.

Squirrels, in an urban setting, are quite different from the shy squirrels that live in the woods. Urban squirrels have fewer enemies - except (maybe) those that live around you....
