My name is Heather and I have a squirrel problem. Its been going on for about 5 years. It started out very slow and then its just progressed. It's out of control. I have finally decided to deal with it. Anyway, long story, very long story and five years later, I am tackling the issue.
I blocked th entry point yesterday thinking the little buggers were out. Well 4 hours of creating "hardware cloth soffit" i heard them in the attic a few hours later. So, i went out there today and got the MASSIVE nest down from the corner of the house. No babies.
They have been running around the attic all day trying to find a way out. I went to Lowes and got the trap. The Havahart trap. At this point I have no heart when it comes to these little Rat BA$tards. I am out for them to be dead.
I actually gave them a chance to escape today by trying to run 'em out the open soffit. They jumped the opening and never came out. Their mistake.
I am now semi obsessed with capturing them.
My question is how long will it take them to be so hungry they go after the bait in the trap. It is a two door trap that I have made a one door trap. There is a luscious saltine cracker topped with gobbs of P nut butter. I would think it is like crack and they would want a score like now. But not so.
They have been trapped for now 31 hours. They have to be hungry.
Do they ever just not go for the food?
Any suggestions?
I will go insane if I hear gnawing above my bed at 6am in the morning one more day!!
