A 1030 (cheaper) would fit the bill, and even the 1040 should do ok. You might have mice AND squirrels... Mice will be able to escape the 1040 & 1030, right through the mesh. Probably even the 1025.

Stacy's right - you have to have patience. They will go in... Try trapping outside to make sure you are doing everything right. If you catch them outside, you should be able to catch them in the garage too. Use some birdseed or other nuts as chum. Not too much - you don't want to FEED him, just get him interested.
