After 3 totally silent nights, I blocked the primary egress with some temporary sheet metal. However, not as much as a nibble on either of the two traps in a yard full of squirrels.

I guess I'm in the 'monitor' mode now. I'll keep the traps out indefinitely and will pay very close attention to the house barrier weak spots.
