I thought I had retired after I had caught 13 (of the little *%^*@$!s) late last Winter. Not a peep in the house this whole time....until Monday night. I heard the faint, familiar scratching between floors. Not exactly the Squirrel Olympics up there, but definately some minor activity.
I whirled into action! Set my traps, and of course the next morning they were tripped (hmmmph!). Bait was still there, but no squirrel. Re-set the traps and woke up this morning: no squirrel, but the traps/bait were intact. A few hours later, BINGO! A two-banger!
I am now out the door for my trip to the State Forest (pretty much in the next county) for the Squirrel Emmigration & Relocation Program (SERP). If that doesn't work, I will sign them up at the Y for swimming lessons.
So, we'll see how it goes, but it's nice to know that I can still out-think a squirrel...
Keep after it.
