Hard to say. I have seen squirrels stay in an attic in the summer, but mostly they leave. Problem is, when they get back and find out you CLOSED their entrance, they may try to get in again... Have traps handy for that.

But if you haven't heard anything, and you normally do, that may be a good sign.
