Sometimes the traps get stolen, depending on where they are. Some people don't understand your problem and will releae your catch and/or steal your trap.
I have seen raccoons raid a squirrel trap, but I have never seen them remove the trap. Sometimes they will damage it, but you can usually find it.
Pin your traps with lawn spikes, you can get those at your hardware store. If they pull up the pins, you'll know it was a human.
