A former owner of our house did some really dumb 'improvements' which involved taking off the boards blocking the runs between joists. I've been hearing scratching in the ceiling above our living room is I set off to investigate before any serious damage happened. I found this in one run. Sorry for the bad picture, this pile is huge and about 10 -12 feet back. Any ideas what it is? Any tips for removing it bar tearing down the sheetrock?
