I have trapped 8 squirrels and there doesnt seem to be any more activity at the entrace way in the facia. That spot is about 30ft up so I am going to wait till the snow melts to cover with hardware cloth.
Up until friday, what I would do with the captive critters is take them to the bathroom and drown them in a plastic bin in the tub. My wife is a very good woman and was appreciative of my efforts but I know that she was skeeved out something fierce having to bathe in that same tub. So I got an idea.......
I bought a plastic toolbox that fits the cage PERFECTLY! Then I filled that with 20L of pluming antifreeze. Now I can take care of business outside discreetly and without upsetting the Mrs. Also, because the liquid is far colder than water could be, I hope that it has the added benefit of putting the buggers into shock to ease thier transition to the afterlife. The idea of freezing them to death was brought up in an earlier post and it gave me the idea. Plumbing antifreeze is the kind to use as any spillage wont be harmful to civilian beasties.
