Don't chum at night and don't leave the trap set up at night either. Do it early morning. The 1040 is hard to find. I have never seen it in a HD - they do have the 1030, which is 6 inches shorter, sometimes that works for squirrels, sometimes not. If it doesn't you'll know it pretty quick....
