We have squirrels that are nesting in the crawlspace (the insulated portion under the floorboards) of our home. We can hear them chew on the wood beams at night (sleepless nights) to be precise. I know where they entered, part of our outside stone structure sank about 2 inches and left some openings behind the air condition unit.
I have bought two life traps and tried peanut butter, sunflower seed, apples, carrots, peanuts and cheese as bait. After five days, no luck. I caught one in a big rat trap (dead). I don't know how many are under the house, I can only hear chewing from one spot at a time. Any ideas and suggestions? I even took out some bricks around the skirting to be able to position a trap closer to the place where they chew (which incidentally is right under our bed).
Aside from the damage, my peaceful night sleep is worth a lot to me, so every suggestion is appreciated.
