You shouldn't have "chased" him. Remove all water and food that he can possibly get to, close up the toilets, wipe the laundry tubs dry, cover the sumps and whatever else has water. Leave a baited trap.

On the 3rd day after you do this, and he is without water, open your washer (top load only) and splash a LITTLE water on the inside. Only enough for him to smell. Often they will go in but are too weak to climb out. Wait til he's dead, fish him out, then run the washer thru a cycle with soap.

Make sure he can get NO FOOD and NO WATER. Go thru my squirrel pages then use your head to decide what to do.
