On the real estate disclosure statement the previous owners stated they did not have rodents and the home inspector did not find evidence of these pests. We are now in litigation for non-disclosure of rodents as well as other issues such as flooding and mould. The Sellers now admit that they had previously had the house exterminated for rodents.
We live 3 hrs away from the house and our daughter lives in the house while she attends university and we rent out the remainder of the house to students. It is difficult for us to deal with this problem due to the distance from the house.
Our next door neighbours feed and nuture the squirrels by providing not only food, but have nesting houses for them. They also attract chipmunks, mice, pigeons, ducks, rabbits...it is quite a wildlife sanctuary. I love wildlife and animals; however, not when then the animals become pests. I should report our neighbours to the City; however, we need to keep on good terms with them.
We are trying to seal up the house. The squirrels are even entering through our drains and service lines.
Are there any deterrants that work (i.e. chili pepper) to discourage them?
Thank you
