Maybe... Actually, I should say, "it is possible." But they can also survive in the worst of places. Additionally, it is also possible that there are some left inside. (I hope you haven't found anything inside since you placed those items in the attic - tell me that's the case!)
Assuming that's right, I think you should bring down the items and place them outside, on the grass, let the ants find them! Near some ants if you can see some. Not out in the rain, but for a couple of days, to allow the ants or other insects find them, they LOVE BBs!
Inspect them CLOSELY, with your glasses on :) - and with a STRONG light. If they survive your EXTENSIVE inspection, and after hubby does the same, separately, I would think that would be as best as you could do, without an exterminator.
Watch closely, after setting everything up, after six months, no BBs, you should be safe. They live a long time, under many conditions, but with no blood meal, after six months, they're toast.
And forget the pesticides you used. If they were pre-mixed, they're NG. You need the actual chems and YOU mix them, on the spot, like an exterminator does. Skip the chems unless they pop up again, then use the right chems the right way.
Let us know how you made out.
